The Signifigance of Hijama Therapy in The Night Journey (Al-Isra)

As-salamu alaykum,
I hope you are in the best of health and Emaan.
Today, I would like to talk briefly about the event of Al-Isra, Prophet ﷺ (PBUH) night journey. The Night Journey was very significant in shaping our Ibadah.
In the Quran it is mentioned:

”Who took His slave (Muhammadﷺ) for a journey by night from Al‑Masjid Al‑Haraam (at Makkah) to Al‑Masjid Al‑Aqsa (in Jerusalem), the neighborhood whereof We have blessed, in order that We might show him (Muhammadﷺ) of Our Ayaat (proofs, evidence, lessons, signs, etc.). Verily, He is the All‑Hearer, the All‑Seer” [al-Isra’ 17:1]

On this Night, Angel Jibreal took the Prophet ﷺ at night from the Ka’bah to the mosque in Jerusalem, When they reached Jerusalem the Prophet ﷺ along with other Prophets offered Prayers behind Muhammed ﷺ (PBUH). Jibrael then took him to the Heavens and the Prophet met several great Prophets in Islam. This was also when the Prophet ﷺ (PBUH) reached the highest point in the heavens and was given the Honour of Allah’s Divine Presence. On this Night, the Salah number was obligated five times a day from fifty. Allah has bestowed us with many blessings.

Also, another special significance to this Night, which is not talked about much, is the Hijama. As you may be aware Hijama is a very well-known sunnah. Hijama is so important that on the night journey, when Prophet Mohammad ﷺ (SAW) went on Isra and Mairaj, He was ordered to establish Hijama in his Ummah, by every Angel he came across.

The Prophet ﷺ said, I did not pass by any group of angels on the night of Al Isra’, except they said to me: “O Muhammad, tell your nation to do Cupping”. Ibn Majah, 3477
Narrated By Abu Hurayrah: The Prophet ﷺ said: "The best medical treatment you apply is cupping." (Sahih Bukhari, Abu Dawud Book 22. Medicine)
Malik related to me that he heard that the Prophet ﷺ said, “If there is a remedy that will reach the disease, then cupping will reach it.” (Maliks Muwatta Book 54)

Imagine…something that is so important, that our Prophet (ﷺ) was ordered to establish…and most of us do not even know about it! How do you feel about that? Would you say that we have some kind of responsibility to revive this important sunnah?

So how can we establish this forgotten sunnah? By taking it up as a career. You cannot accomplish much in life without focusing on it. If you don’t think of taking up Hijama as a career, then no one else might either. Plus, you should be a leader, not a follower. You should decide to establish it in your locality, Insha Allah, like many of our Graduates.
